The Gateway North Sled Dog Race Association is a non-profit organization, which was formed in 1998 to promote traditional sled dog racing in Saskatchewan.

The organization is run completely by volunteers and has a volunteer Board of Directors. We have a wonderful community who work tirelessly all year to plan, prepare and then host the Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race in February in Northern Saskatchewan. We know that we have a fabulous global family of race followers and supporters who share our race year-round and who love being a part of the race experience from the warmth and comfort of their homes if they’re unable to join us in person. Everyone associated with the Challenge loves what they do, and we all want the race to continue for as long as we have the time and energy to make it happen.

As well as being a lot of enjoyable hard work and taking many, many volunteer hours to put on the race every year, it also takes hard cash! Each year it seems to be a little bit harder to raise the funding and encourage the sponsorships needed to ensure that the race can continue.

If you feel able to support the Challenge financially and help us to continue to run this amazing sled dog race, we’re trying something a little different this year.

We are excited to launch our ‘DONATE’ page on our website where we will shamelessly accept any donations into our race funds. It’s easy to do, just click the link and you can send us funds by credit card or by e-transfer.

Your gifts will pay for things like:
1) Wooden stakes to guide the teams along the trails safely
2) Gas to power the snow machines of the Trail Crew as they cut trees, groom and pack the snow, and patrol the trails to keep the dog teams safe
3) Food to feed the mushers at the checkpoints
4) Insurance to ensure our veterinary teams can practice safely
5) Straw for mushers to bed their teams down in the checkpoints
6) Batteries for our trackers to enable teams to be monitored along the trail
And much much more.

Together we can keep this race going, and for that we are very thankful.
